GYNECOLOGY
Sooriya Hospital prides itself in having a state of the art Obstetrics & Gynaecology department which has been providing efficient services over the past 25 years. Our team has grown strong over time and we have currently invested in a vibrant new department, scanning facilities and labour ward. We are also extremely proud to be inaugurating our IVF Department soon as this has enabled us to provide all the required facilities for women and couples requiring help with fertility
Our facilities include out-patient appointments with our consultants, Monday to Saturday from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm and a 24 hour dedicated ward for emergencies for pregnant and non-pregnant women who may have gynecological problems. Our department has facilities to help with:

- Minor & Major Gynaecological Problems
- Specialist Endometriosis Centre
- Laparascopy Services for Gynaecological Problems
- Fertility Including Ivf
Dr. Sooriyakala Sreekumar
Dr. Sooriyakala Sreekumar M.D, D.G.O, FRCOG is Medical Director at Sooriya Hospitals and the Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Her experience in the field spans almost 30 years of which she spent 10 years in the United Kingdom. Her innovative ideas for non-medicalising pregnancy as much as possible have struck a chord among pregnant women who have greatly benefitted over the years. Her dedication was instrumental in creating the hospital’s 24 hour maternity ward with dedicated maternity doctors. Under her guidance the hospital has been able to provide very high normal delivery rates for women and this includes those who have had previous caesarean sections. Parentcraft and antenatal yoga classes were fruits of her vision and form part of the antenatal package.
Her other areas of interest include management of polycystic ovary syndrome associated infertility, menstrual problems, cervical screening and Intrauterine Insemination (IUI). She strongly believes in trying a non-surgical approach for gynecological problems wherever possible. She is an active member of FIGO and ATNRCOG and is regularly invited to speak at conferences
Dr. Rajiv Sreekumar
Dr. Rajiv Sreekumar did his undergraduate medical degree in the U.K and then went on to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He completed his seven year intensive training programme in the U.K, getting his MRCOG and CCT (Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training) before returning to Chennai in 2017.
He has undertaken a 2 year sub-specialty training programme in Advanced Laparoscopy for Gynaecology and is an expert in the surgical management of Endometriosis. He has also worked for the Homerton University Hospital’s Fertility Department and is currently heading the IVF department at Sooriya Hospital.
